Gandhi’s Great Grandson to Participate in

Virtual Discussion with Filmmaker

24 September 2013 (Toronto) – VisionTV/ ZoomerMedia and KarmaFilm present the world premiere of filmmaker Anand Ramayya’s documentary Who Killed Gandhi? in two parts on Vision TV September 30th and October 7th at 10:00 pm ETAn interactive iPad app launches in the iTunes app store today leading up to the premiere and the International Day of Non-Violence, Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday on October 2nd.  Tushar Gandhi, Mahatma Gandhi’s great grandson and author of the most extensively researched book on the topic “Let’s Kill Gandhi”, will join Ramayya in an online discussion from India during the two broadcast premiere dates.

Narrated by Canadian star Gordon Pinsent (Away From Her), Who Killed Gandhi? is the definitive inquiry into a deeply entrenched conspiracy that has remained only a footnote in history. This documentary reveals an epic battle of clashing religious and political ideologies through interviews with historians, journalists, eyewitnesses and the families of Mahatma Gandhi, his assassin Nathuram Godse, and the conspiracy mastermind VD Savarkar.

Who Killed Gandhi? resurfaces rare archives, including an incredible discovery of the All India Radio broadcast from January 20th 1948, where a gang of assassins is heard interrupting Gandhi’s prayer meeting in a botched assassination attempt mere days before the fateful final act ten days later.

“Attenborough’s ‘Gandhi’ was, for most of us, our only exposure to Mahatma Gandhi,” Anand Ramayya comments. “Who Killed Gandhi? shines a light on the unexplored history of his murder and the tumultuous time of Partition as a country was divided along religious lines.”

Viewers are invited to join in a discussion with the filmmaker (@WhoKilledGandhi) and Tushar Gandhi (@TusharG) on twitter (on #WKGchat) and on facebook during the September 30 / October 7 show times.   Tushar is also hosting a youth rally on October 2nd in commemoration of Gandhi Jayanti, The International Day of Non-Violence, in Rajkot India.

Producer/Director Anand Ramayya directed the documentary written by Srinivas Krishna, shot in India in 2012/13 with cinematographer Thomas Hale and producer Kelly Balon.  Raj Ramayya composed the film’s original score, Jackie Dzuba served as its editor, and Farhatullah Beig was the  field producer.  A companion iPad app, developed by Toronto’s AWE Co., is now available in the iTunes app store at
